The 1060 an excellent steel for katanas and is our standard dojo cutter... When properly tempered, this steel can be extremely durable and very suitable for cutting tatami omote on a regular basis. The 0.6% carbon is perfect when through hardened.. without the risk of becoming too brittle and susceptible to chipping and shatter, nor will it remain too soft to where it would bend easily on bad cuts.

Perfect as an introductory dojo cutter for light to medium targets. The third generation Mokko uses a new tsuba design to get away from the masses that started using the previous stock tsuba. It also has a tighter ito, more oval tsuka, among other changes. (The no-fuller version blade has a more forward center of gravity heavier weight. This type of blades have more lateral strength and are easier for tameshigiri from the weight and the reduced drag. Whereas the varient with fuller is better for kata practice, the no-fuller varient is better for cutting practices.)
